Organisation description

The MARS network, funded in 1994, is a non-profit foundation that unites Europe?s marine laboratories, scattered over many countries. Its members are located all over Europe, along the shores of the Atlantic, the North, Irish, Baltic and Adriatic Seas, and the Black and Mediterranean Seas. 40 marine stations and institutes are members of MARS. The MARS Network serves as the backbone in order to achieve the long-term and large-scale research that is needed to answer some of the most important questions in biodiversity for which an important concertation and co-ordination is required.
