Organisation description

The ESA membership includes 10 founding members from the largest Western European countries. One of the ESA activities is dedicated to the earth environment. The ESRIN Centre, Frascati, Italy, is the ESA?s main centre for Earth observation, harvesting images and data from ESA?s own ERS-2 satellite and Envisat, and pooling them with observations from the French-led SPOT series and from American, Russian and Japanese satellites. ESRIN is also the information systems centre for ESA and the channel for public information. ESA has dedicated a web page to hazards and risks in the marine environment, including coastal zone monitoring and management.
